The filters used in Greenfield systems are either certified by NSF International or third-party tested to meet or exceed NSF standards. These certifications and test results confirm the filters’ ability to effectively reduce contaminants while maintaining material safety for drinking water.
Every filter included in our whole home and under sink systems has been tested and verified for both performance and safety, and meet some or all the following NSF/ANSI standards:
- NSF/ANSI 42: reduction of chlorine, taste, and odor, as well as improvement of overall water aesthetics
- NSF/ANSI 53: reduction of contaminants with known health impacts such as lead, PFAS, VOCs, and cysts
- NSF/ANSI 61: confirmation that materials in contact with water are safe and non-leaching
These standards represent the highest levels of trust and accountability in the water filtration industry. They aren’t based on claims or in-house testing but on independent verification by accredited laboratories. Each certification requires that a filter be tested under real-world conditions to confirm its ability to reduce specific contaminants to safe levels over its full rated lifespan.
This process includes rigorous evaluations for both performance and safety: from ensuring materials don’t leach harmful substances into the water to verifying that the filter continues to perform effectively after prolonged use. Products that meet or exceed NSF standards demonstrate measurable, third-party–validated performance, providing assurance that what’s written on the label has been proven in the lab.

Each housing is tested for material safety, structural strength, and resistance to pressure changes.
